What do fighters and surgeons have in common?
You know what Surgeons don’t do? They don’t risk their hands. Why? Because they make their living with their hands.
The above is an example of what smart people that care about their careers do. Too many combat sports athletes forget that their bodies are their tools. They need their bodies to be healthy and in shape to ply their trade and in a pro’s case, make their living.
I get it all the time from people that have never trained with combat sports professionals - they think we kill each other all the time, with busted noses, black eyes, and missing teeth. If that was the case, we would be a fight club instead of a training center for athletes that make a living in combat sports. Fight clubs fight in the club so they can’t compete successfully. Athletes train in their clubs and fight in competition.
So what are my points? There are 2 of them;
A real fighters gym is much safer than the alternative because training is safe, effective, and progressive. These facilities have athletes training, not idiots fighting each other.
If you are a combat sports athlete, treat your body like surgeon treats his hands. You need your body to perform come fight day. Your training needs to be hard and challenging, not damaging.
